I bought these ice skates from the back of a van in an icy pub car park in the Fens. I’d just spent a day wobbling in hand-me-down skates over the frozen meadows at Welney and I was instantly hooked on fen skating.
Every winter the fens flood and when they freeze the skating starts . There’s a huge history to fen skating and my skates have a history too. These skates were second hand and I discovered the name of their original owner engraved on the blade. I contacted him and he told me he had loved these skates and of his passion for skating, which I now share.
