Professor Nicky Clayton
Professor of Comparative Cognition
Sub department of animal behaviour

Nicky Clayton is a Fellow of Clare College and in 2005 became the youngest woman professor ever appointed at Cambridge. Professor Clayton’s research focuses on learning and particularly within the corvid family, which extends over 100 species and includes crows, rooks, jackdaws and jays. Many of these birds exhibit tool use and sophisticated food caching. This has resulted in the conclusion that they are as intelligent as primates.
