Dr Carlos Ludlow-Palafox
Research Associate
Unit Operations Laboratory, Department of Chemical Engineering

Carlos Ludlow-Palafox works in the Department of Chemical Engineering and is developing an efficient method for recycling plastic wastes. This process will allow aluminium/paper/plastic food containers to be broken down and then recycled. This is particularly important for drink and juice cartons, which are difficult to recycle.

The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in 1948, originally with an endowment from Royal Dutch Shell oil company. There are currently 18 academic and 30 support staff, 160 undergraduates and over 130 graduate students and post-doctoral researchers.
