Professor Sir Bruce Ponder

Sir Bruce Ponder is the Director of the Cambridge Research Institute and a Fellow of Jesus College. His main research interest is breast cancer and is currently involved in a number of projects which focus on the genetic aspects of the disease. He was awarded a knighthood in the 2008 New Years Honours List for services to medicine.

He is pictured here in the lecture theatre of the Li Ka Shing Centre, which was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen on 2 February 2007. The centre houses the new Cancer Research UK Cambridge Research Institute, a new translational facility that aims to provide a bridge between the research bench and bedside.
