40 pairs

This is my first ever pair of hiking boots. I got them to do the Southern Upland Way (across Scotland) in 2001. My Dad was keen to do it and, although my walking experience was pretty limited (a wonder at the shops and a 10 minute walk to work.) I agreed to keep him company. After 11 days I was exhausted, my feet were covered in blisters but I’d had the best holiday in my life. That walk led to a love of hiking that’s taken me to Peru, the Pyrenees, the Alps and the Dolomites. I’ve also walked all over the UK to places I didn’t know existed. These boots accompanied me on several more adventures and I keep them as a backup pair…despite the hole.
